This paper airplane (named ‘Sabretooth’ for obvious
reasons) is my favourite – it’s easy to make and glides nicely.
Some people suggest it’s more difficult to make than it is –
I hope these instructions make it clear. I’ve found it’s a great
way of keeping kids entertained without destroying the house – and
if the plane doesn’t survive, just make another! |

Start with a sheet of paper (pre-fold a centre-line as a guide), |
fold the ‘usual triangles’, |
and fold the triangle over itself. |
Turn it over, |
and fold the usual triangles again. |

Turn it over, |
and fold the upper triangle over. |

Turn it over a last time, |
open up the flaps, pull them forward and fold them down to
form the nose. |

Launch it held towards the front for best
results. Launching it quite hard on its side makes it turn a circle. Launching
it hard vertically in the air can be fun. Experiment for other tricks... |
Finally, to shape its profile, fold it over in half, fold
it back from the points to make the wings, and fold up the side flaps. |
